overview statement
"I became fascinated with parasites after getting infected with bird schistosomes on an undergraduate marine biology field trip. Since that time I have studied in several different fields of parasitology including taxonomy, ecology, life-cycles and pathology. Since 2000 I have expanded my interests into disease in the broader sense, studying pathophysiology of lobsters in the troubled Long Island Sound population, and the distribution of mycobacteriosis in NY fishes. My core interest remains in the parasites of aquatic hosts, however, and particularly reef fishes. I seek to understand how these fascinating host-parasite relationships evolved, and how they function on ecological and evolutionary timescales."
