The Cornell Experimental Ponds facility represents a unique research area consisting of 91 artificial ponds and two large reservoirs on about 160 acres of fully fenced land.
The ponds were constructed beginning in 1962 for the purpose of providing facilities for replicated experiments in aquatic environments, and have been used for basic and applied research and for instruction in such classes as agronomy, limnology, and field ecology, as well as for various extension activities.
