As Director of Conservation Science at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, I oversee a diverse set of research and outreach activities directed at the conservation of birds throughout the Western Hemisphere.These activities include basic research on bird biology, citizen-science to address applied conservation questions, and collaborative partnerships at national and international levels focused on conservation planning and policy.

My research focuses on assessing threats and conservation concern for wild bird species and their habitats, as well as developing and implementing solutions for bird monitoring and science-based bird conservation.

My staff and I participate in a broad range of national and international bird conservation initiatives, providing leadership in applying scientific results and synthesis to influencing environmental policy.We also direct citizen science projects that engage the public in science and environmental policy.
