Amy Emerson received a B.A. with honors from Wells College in 1996, and joint J.D. and M.L.S. degrees with honors from Syracuse University in 1999. Ms. Emerson thereafter practiced law in the private sector in both Ithaca and Syracuse, New York. Since 2003, Ms. Emerson has additionally served as adjunct faculty at Ithaca College where she taught real estate law and continues to teach a seminar in legal research. She joined the Cornell Law Library in 2008 as Research Attorney and Lecturer in Law, and now also serves as Assistant Director for Access Services. She focuses her research in Foreign and International Law, makes regular contributions to library publications, and teaches several courses, including Foreign & International Legal Research, Advanced Legal Research, Continuing Legal Education topics in legal research, and the research component of the first year Lawyering course. She is active in national and international organizations, including serving as Co-Chair of the International Legal Research Interest Group of the American Society of International Law.
