description

  • Cornell virtually launched the modern era of lithospheric exploration using seismic reflection techniques with the COCORP program in the late 70's and 80's. COCORP pioneered the use of oil exploration style seismic profiling to systematically probe the continental crust and upper mantle of the U.S. COCORP's results, and those from similar programs around the world, are now accessible at  the ELLIPSE website developed  at Cornell. Our current seismic investigations stress the integration these controlled source techniques with the new generation of imaging techniques use earthquake sources.
