Positions

Professor Miller’s primary interest is social and political philosophy. His recent writings and courses on global justice have concerned such topics as duties toward the global poor, the relationship between transnational duties and duties toward compatriots, the ethics of war, moral problems of globalization and global climate change, and the moral implications of American power. His writings and courses on social justice have concerned such topics as the moral foundations of egalitarianism, the moral status of group loyalties and the proper political role of evaluations of ways of life. He came to Cornell in 1975, after teaching at M.I.T. He received his PhD in 1975 from Harvard.
