research overview
- My interests include sustainability in vegetable production systems, weed/crop interactions, and international agriculture, focusing on herbicide reduction strategies. My field research work includes developing weed control programs for vegetables and fruit, mechanical cultivation, alternative cropping and mulch management systems to reduce herbicide use in vegetable production. I also work on soil/crop management practices in rice and wheat cropping rotations in South Asia. Additional interests include interseeded cover crops, crop rotation effects on weed seed bank populations, and natural products for weed control. I conduct research to support registrations of new herbicides for fruits and vegetables.

outreach overview
- My extension and outreach programs are intertwined with my research, resulting in synergy and dynamism in both programs. I work with Extension educators and growers to develop alternative and/or integrated weed control programs that are less dependent on herbicides, and keep them informed of pertinent changes in registrations/regulations. I have received increasing levels of support from the vegetable industry.
