  • Our mission here at DRBIO is to conceive, develop and demonstrate tools for an increased understanding of fundamental biochemical and biophysical events in cells, tissues and living animals. We focus primarily on optical instrumentation since light is especially well-suited for these demands. The emergence of new fluorescent and photochemical probes coupled with new developments in mode-locked lasers, sensitive low-noise detectors and fast data acquisition capabilities have given us the needed pieces to build instrumentation with unparalleled specificity, sensitivity and versatility. We seek to remain at the forefront of these new developments, driven by our internal research, the needs of our biomedical collaborators, and close collaborations with our industrial and technological partners. Because of our experience with biological microscopy and spectroscopy, we operate as a biomedical engineering interface between the biological community and the technical community.
