research overview
- My applied research program is closely integrated with my extension program. Both are actively coordinated with colleagues at the University of Wisconsin, Penn State, and on extension with Univ. of MO, Univ. of MN, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. The program encompasses a broad array of subjects, emphasizing the economics of marketing activities, market coordination, market pricing, and federal and state pricing programs. I also am involved in research projects with colleagues at USDA, in particular AMS Dairy Programs

Teaching
teaching overview
- I teach one seminars that are required for all AEM freshman. Personal Evaluation and Development is designed to explore concepts of diversity, ethics, trust and cooperation, working in teams, and leadership. It requires students to engage in self-analysis using the Myers Briggs Personality indicator and develop a Personal Mission Statement and Personal Development Plan. I teach two upper division undergraduate courses in agricultural market economics and policy. Dairy Markets and Policy focuses on the US dairy sector with a balance of topics spanning markets for farm milk and dairy products and federal and state policies that regulate milk prices or the marketing of milk. Agricultural and Food Policy focuses on agricultural, food, conservation and trade policies primarily derived from the so-called Farm Bill and under the jurisdiction of the US Department of Agriculture. I also teach one week in Farm Business Management on topics of agricultural markets and policy. And, I typically teach one lecture on agricultural policy in Ag Sci 4010.
