Christy received her B.Sc. in 1997 from the University of Guelph in Environmental Toxicology. In 2001, she received her M.Sc. at the University of Guelph in Plant Pathology and Applied Entomology. Currently, Christy is a Vegetable Extension Specialist with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Vegetable Regional Team in western New York with major program responsibilities in onions and cabbage, a position she has held since 2001.

research overview
- in onions: optimizing control of onion diseases including leaf diseases, Botrytis leaf blight, Alternaria purple blotch and Iris yellow spot virus (IYSV), and storage diseases, bacterial and Botrytis neck rots. Optimizing plant spacing for optimal yield and quality in large and small scale onion production systems, and developing a system to produce onions using minimum tillage, investigating fertility and pesticide interactions, and optimizing muck fertility. In cabbage: managing slugs. In Broccoli: variety evaluation and other aspects related to the Eastern Broccoli project.
