Michael Farrell joined the Department of Natural Resources in 2004. His educational background includes a BS from Hamilton College in economics/environmental studies and an MPS in forest and natural resource management from SUNY-College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He currently serves as Northern NY Maple Specialist and Director of the Uihlein Forest- Cornell`s Sugar Maple Research & Extension Field Station in Lake Placid, NY.

He is the State Extension Forester responsible for Forest management and stewardship, Forest ecology, Landowner education, and Vegetation management. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Frostburg State University, Maryland.
