Training of pre-service secondary mathematics teachers that leads to certification to teach in New York state.
issue being addressed
The training of qualified secondary school mathematics teachers helps to meet the critical demand of math teachers in New York state and the nation. Teachers who graduate from the Cornell Teacher Education program often become leaders in their school districts, or continue their graduate study in mathematics, curriculum and instruction, or teacher education.

The Cornell Teacher Education program prepares students in mathematics, science, and agricultural science for certification to teach their discipline in middle school and hish school.
impact assessment
The economic health of our state and country depends on the ability of our schools to educate students. Impending teacher reirements, increased certification standards, and growing demands for more qualified teachers of mathematics and science indicate that the work of the Cornell Teacher Education program has a significant impact on society, by training outstanding future teachers for middle school and high school.
