Geber, Monica Ann

Associate Professor
I am an evolutionary biologist and ecologist, interested in the causes of underlying patterns of species` abundance and distribution. My current work focuses on the limits of geographic range expansion in plants. I am active in 5 professional societies, including services on society councils and editorial boards.

research

research and scholarship focus

My current research is on the ecological and evolutionary limits on geographic ranges. In addition, I am broadly interested in the interface between genetic diversity and evolution within species and community-level interactions between species. I have ongoing projects on the community ecology and evolution of plant-pollinator interactions and on the evolution of plant mating systems.

teaching

teaching focus

I teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in ecology and evolutionary biology. My major instruction is in BioEE 278, Evolutionary Biology, a course that is required of all biology majors. I also teach an upper-level undergraduate/graduate course (BioEE 458) in Community Ecology and graduate seminars.
